I moved to Dublin a year ago. It is a lovely city, not too modern, not too perfect, but orderly enough. As I have learned with experience big cities are not my ideal habitat, but if I have to choose one, Dublin suits me. It is not too posh or too trendy, not too big or not too tall. I like to see history around me, without it necessarily be covered with gold leaf. I can definitely live without triumphant arches. I like Dublin’s slightly rugged side and I love the warmth of the brick buildings in the cold light of cloudy days when the sky is hanging very low. I love walking to work in the mornings and I love exploring its charming and not so charming neighbourhoods. I hate the weather, but the city and its pubs are cozy enough to make up for it. Dublin is home… At least for now.
