When I went home to Bulgaria in the beginning of July, we drove to Staro Stefanovo. It is a very old village with typical architecture and many cultural monuments from the beginning and the middle of 19th century. It draws seekers of country homes and a lot of the buildings in the village have been restored or are undergoing restoration. It is not a very tidy place and it is not too popular with tourists. Its raw characteristics make it very appealing if you are interested in authentic places, which are true to their historic appearance and are not too polished and commercialised. It is certainly a lovely scene for experimenting with film.

Staro Stefanovo is an architectural preserve. There are several Thracian barrows in the surroundings and the village is a favourite place for shooting film productions for its preserved distinctive spirit and architecture.
