Thomastown

I love visiting places that are not famous. There are so many beautiful places and towns around the world that are off the beaten path and visiting them is a much more personal experience. You get to truly feel a sense of discovery, which is hard to get when you are surrounded by hoards of tourists, souvenir shops, organised bus tours, you name it. Thomas town in county Kilkenny in Ireland is one of those places. We were there in June and stayed in an old Towerhouse B&B. Unlike Kilkenny, which is too popular with tourists, Thomastown is quiet, but still possesses plenty of historic charm. Another bonus is the fact that you can just wonder off the fields surrounding it, or take the trail by the river Nore. This is of course the first thing I did, when we arrived there.
